LMOW #3: The Home Toolbox
My recommendations for The Home Toolbox -- coming from a very pregnant person hormonally jacked up with my chop saw and drill building custom shelving.
Alright, so I am almost a month out from having a second kid and I have noticed the second time around im repeating a pattern. When most moms-to-be are getting into the meditative goddess birth zone and perhaps doing prenatal yoga and stretching(sorry if i’m projecting on anyone, I aspire to be someone who stretches and does breath work daily lol), while I instinctively get out the chop saw and drill & start building custom shelving for all the life and baby stuff I am going to be obligated to keep organized over the next year or two.
This reminds me that I truly believe everyone needs a full kit of tools and safety gear at home for DIY build projects, bc too often the premade shelving systems at the store are expensive, ugly and just don’t use our spaces properly. Also you need to be able to hang something up whenever you want, and not have it fall off the wall a day or month later! Also you need to not need other people for this, waiting for a partner or a friend to arrive can feel…. <insert your own frustrated word here>. So! I have put together this recommendations list for The Home Toolbox, also some links to safety and how to videos because safety first people :) While I will include videos like How To Use a Chop Saw Safely, I do recommend getting a confident/experienced friend to give you an IRL run down for your first time, its quite safe once you get some practice, but can be intimidating at first. Even a drill could use an IRL how-to at first.
You can look at the entire collection of recommendations over HERE at RecLeague, or you can link through below :) In the collection link you will find my commentary on each item, the safety glasses, ear protection, chop saw and drill bit set are all things I have owned for over a decade and am still very pleased with both aesthetically and functionally :)
Good Luck! & Reach out if you need a lil more guidance :)
xx
Elise
